Abstract
184,088. Ash, Sons, & Co., Ltd., C., and Weller, F. W. Sept. 19, 1921. Lift valves; actuating-mechanism.-Relates to a valve device intended particularly for regulating the flow of gas from a cylinder in which it is stored under pressure, of the kind wherein a lift valve is normally held against its seat by two springs, one stronger than the other, as described in Specification 20572/10, and consists in arranging the springs concentrically, thus making the device more compact. The weaker spring 21 is enclosed in the socket-shaped end of a rod 19 carrying an adjustable sliding member 18 pressed against the valve 11 by the stronger spring 17 which surrounds the red. The weaker spring presses against a collar 22 on the valve stem which passes through a central hole in the sliding member. The rod is adjustably connected to a sliding bar 27, against one end of which is pressed an adjustable screw 31 in a pedal 29. In a modification, the device is arranged vertically and the end of the sliding bar is acted on by a rod pivoted to the pedal and engaging in an adjustable socket screwed in the bottom of the bar.
