Abstract
183,909. Noke, F. April 28, 1921. Shades; reflectors.-An electric light shade or reflector is provided with one or more outlets for the escape of hot air by shaping the lamp socket receiving aperture so as to leave a part or parts of the aperture uncovered by the socket and the shade supporting ring. In one form, the aperture is formed as a three-sided hole provided with convex portions 3 adapted to be gripped between the shade ring 4 and the base of the lamp socket 5, these convex portions merging into concave and substantially semicircular portions 6, not covered by the ring or lamp socket and through which the hot air escapes. In other forms, the aperture is made oval, or of the usual circular form with partly circular or radial slots extending therefrom. The Provisional Specification states that the hot-air outlets may also consist of a series of apertures extending around and near the upper edge of the shade or reflector.
