Abstract

183,554. Williamson, D. J., and Knight, E. A. April 22, 1921. Holders for sliding windows.-A sliding windowsash, fitted at one side with a rack 13 which engages a spur wheel 4 mounted in the frame is provided with braking means which is automatically released when the window is being raised, and applied during lowering. The brake-device comprises a helical spring 8 closely encircling the spur-wheel spindle 6. The spring is secured at one end to the enclosing box 1 by screw and nut 10, and the other end engages an adjusting-screw 12.
