Abstract
Calcium carbonate and sulphite for purifying raw sugar juices are produced by precipitation from heated liquids. Calcium carbonate should be precipitated at a temperature of not less than 80 DEG C. Flue gases may be used to precipitate the carbonate. The used salts may be regenerated by dissolving, filtering or otherwise purifying, and reprecipitating. They may be made into a paste with water and dissolved, according to the salt treated, and precipitated by milk of lime. Before dissolving the salts may be ignited, or treated with hydrochloric or other acid, or an alkali.
