Abstract
183,271. Fothergill, H. April 27, 1921. Aspirating-apparatus, ejector.-In a steam condensing plant of the type in which air &c. are extracted from the main condenser 4 by a steam ejector 2 and pass to a water jet ejector 9 through which water suitable for boiler feeding purposes is circulated by a pump 10, the condensate from the main condenser is passed to the boiler feed system through a surface-heater 1 interposed between the steam ejector 2 and the water jet ejector 9 without being exposed to the atmosphere. The water from the ejector 9 passes to a tank 11 from which it is drawn by the pump 10. To prevent undue rise of temperature in the tank 11 a small quantity of condensate from the condenser 1 is passed to it by a pipe 12, surplus water being returned to the condenser 4 through a float-operated valve 13 and pipe 14. In a modification the valve 13 is replaced by a hand-operated valve and the supply through the pipe 12 controlled by a float-operated valve.
