Abstract

183,077. Fraser, J., and Hennessy, M. Oct. 24, 1921. Valves actuated indirectly.-A barrel or cask is provided with a valve fitting which enables the flow of liquid to be cut off automatically when the usual tap is removed. The barrel 1 is provided with a threaded bush 2 which receives a hollow casing 3 perforated at 4<a>. A rotary plug 6 fits into the casing 3 and is perforated at 8 so that the two sets of perforations may be brought into or out of engagement by rotating the plug 6. The outer end of the plug is bored to receive the ordinary beer tap 9 which is secured by a bayonet-joint 12, so that when the tap is in position the perforations are in register and liquid may be drawn off. When the tap is detached, the plug 6 is turned by the bayonet catch so as to place the perforations out of register and thus close the fluid-passage.
