Abstract
181,952. Cole, W. L., and Bush, J. P. June 2, 1921. Sawing.-A safety feeding device for a saw bench comprises an adjustable spring catch 2 mounted on a sliding bar 1 and adapted to engage the end of the work after it has been fed forward far enough. The feed is then completed by means of which the bar is actuated against a spring or weight. Any mechanical actuation may be made use of. In a modified form shown in Fig. 11, two catches are used, and the bar 1 slides behind the fence, to which the handle is pivoted. Fig. 17 shows an arrangement for retracting the catch when passing the saw by the action of a pin 25 projecting below the catch and working in a guide slot 24. Fig. 10 shows a form employing a foot lever 11 and counterweight. An adjustable retaining member 23 is mounted on the fence.
