Abstract

179,947. Zack, M. May 11, 1921, [Convention date]. No Patent granted (Sealing feenot paid). Separating gaseous mixtures by liquefaction. - Argon is obtained from liquid air or liquid raw oxygen by partial evaporation, the residual liquid being subjected to reduced pressure ; the liquid portion and the evaporate are each separated into a liquid and a vapour. In the apparatus shown, liquid air is supplied to a vessel a; the vapour formed therein passee by a pipe m to one compartment, provided with baffles, of a second contained f, while the liquid passes to the lower part g of the other compartment of the second container. The part g is connected with theupper part i of the second container by tubes h, the parts g, h, i being under vacuum or reduced pressure. Liquid outlets q, r and gas outlets o, p are provided.
