Two-stroke-cycle engines; pumps.-In an engine using crank chamber or other compression, a portion of each pump charge is rejected to the atmosphere through air inlet ports A. The remainder of each charge is transferred through a non-return valve E to a passage containing a fuel injection nozzle F the passage terminating in a mechanically - actuated valve leading to a combustion space having curved walls as shown in the Fig. During each upstroke of the piston a portion of the charge is returned to the transfer passage through the valve C.
