Printing-surfaces.-An improved tablet for plastic writing or drawing and which may be used for printing in the manner described in Specification 112,318, comprises a cardboard or other support pressed to the form of a shallow tray or dish and provided with a cover, and a coloured layer of the composition sold under the registered Trade Mark " Plasticine," or the composition called " Playwax,'' in the recessed part of the support. Fig. 3 shows a folding tablet, the two sections a, a<1>, of which are provided with layers b, b' of " Plasticine," and hinged together by a strip of fabric c, the two plastic surfaces being kept apart by the raised margins d, d<1> when the two parts are folded together. When used for writing or drawing, a sheet of tracing-paper &c. g is laid over the plastic surface b or b<1>, and the design is traced out in a manner previously proposed with a smooth-pointed instrument such as e, the pressure of the instrument causing the tracing paper &c. to adhere closely to the plastic surface along the lines traced out, thereby producing a design which disappears as soon as the tracing paper &c. is raised out of contact with the plastic surface. A blackboard may be constructed in similar manner. When employed for printing, the design is first produced in the "Plasticine," the paper is then pressed thereon, and colour in powder form is applied to the resulting grey impression on the paper.
