Abstract
175,479. Hicks, A. Dec. 13, 1920. Boats adapted to run on land.-Near the ends of the axle of a wheeled carriage for transporting boats &c. overland are upwardly extending means which grip the sides of the boat and secure it temporarily to the axle. Pins c<1>, Fig. 1, detachably secure stub axles b to clips c on a main axle a. The boat e is held at each side by a hook g<2> on a spring g connected by a strap g<3> to the outer clip c, or the strap may pass loosely through the spring and have its upper end connected to the hook g<2>. Alternatively the main axle may be tubular and the stub axles slide in it, the boat being secured by thumb-screws to arms hinged to the main axle. In a modification, the axle may be made in two parts j, j<1>, Fig. 4, connected, adjustably or otherwise, by a pivotal clip k and a detachable clip k'. Spring-controlled arms h, hinged to the axle, keep the boat in position.
