Abstract
175,459. Silica Syndicate, Ltd., and Reynolds, F. Dec. 2, 1920 Vacuum tubes.-A rigid grid and an anode are both mounted on supports which are resilient only in a longitudinal direction so that expansion and contraction are allowed for. In one construction, tubes e fused to the glass, silica, &c. envelope contain molybdenum or tungsten wire or other springs f bearing on the ends of silica &c. rods d which slide in the tubes and are forked to engage the anode B. Other rods d<3> similarly mounted are provided with shouldered ends fitting into a ring h attached to one end of the grid. The anode and grid may be similarly supported at their other ends, or, as shown, may be supported by stationary rods g which may be sealed in holes in the envelope white forced inwards to compressthe springs at the other end. Alternatively, the tubes e may be attached to the electrodes and the rods d, d<3> to the envelope. One or both domed ends A<2> of the cylindrical envelope may be attached after inserting the internal parts.
