Radiants.-A porous refractory body for mounting in a gas or vapour burner is formed of threads of plastic material which are extruded through a die, collected in a mould, dried, and baked. When the mixture is ignited the hottest part of the flame is drawn back into the body, which becomes incandescent. The body may be formed with a thin impervious coat or wall having apertures at the parts through which the gases pass. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), similar bodies may be used in the path of the escaping combustion products, or for burning liquid fuel which falls on the glowing mass. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
