Abstract

173,605. Burden, E. Oct. 4, 1920. Alloys.-In a method of preparing aluminium alloy, particularly for use in soldering, brazing, or tinning aluminium or its alloys, one of the ingredients, preferably the aluminium, is used in the form of granules or flakes coated with copper. Aluminium may be melted under borax and poured over an inclined sieve into a coppersulphate solution, the resulting copper-coated flakes being afterwards coated with paraffin wax or the like. Zinc and tin are then separately melted and poured over a sieve into paraffin wax. Alloys are then made from various proportions of the three prepared metals by first melting the aluminium and adding thereto a mixture of the zinc and tin.
