173,297. Loy, G. Sept. 22, 1920. Tunnel kilns; charging and discharging.-In a kiln for burning ceramic articles, the articles are carried on a bed of burnt refractory materials 3 which is advanced intermittently by a pusher 1. The roof of the preheating zone M rises to the burning zone N, and air, admitted to the cooling zone P through openings 7, assists the combustion of the fuel gases supplied through openings 5 in the burning zone.
