Disc wheels. - Wheels of the disc type are constructed so as to be adapted for attachment to hubs of the kind used in artillery wheels, and are provided with means for the attachment of detachable rims. In one construction, Fig. 1, the wheel consists of two discs 18, 19 spaced apart at the centre and secured together at the periphery. The spacing-means may consist of two telescoped rings 21, with lugs bent inwards and outwards radially to form abutments for the discs. The rings may be carried by a wood filling-ring. The wheel is secured in position on a hub 15 by transverse bolts 16. In a modification, the disc 19 may be of less diameter than the disc 18. The support for the detachable rim may be formed by a ring 50 secured to the discs and carrying the studs 52 by which the usual clamping-plates 54 are attached. In a modification, the ring 50 may be formed by bending the disc edges transversely and a ring carrying the studs 52 may be secured in the angle so formed. Fig. 7 shows a further modification in which the disc edges are bent transversely, and the rim support 70 and the ring 71 carrying the studs 52 are secured together and to the discs by rivets. The support for the rim on the outer side of the wheel may be formed by a split ring 82, Fig. 3, the shape of which is adapted to the shape of the opposing surfaces of the rim and wheel.
