Abstract
169,616. Cavaille, J. M. Sept. 2, 1920. Reservoir pens.-In a selffilling reservoir pen of the elastic-sac type, the compressor plate, stamped out in one piece, is pivoted to the barrel and is operated to compress and release the reservoir by means of a rotatable collar mounted externally at or near the centre of the barrel. The reservoir is packed with pressed hair, which may contain ink residue, the pen then being filled with water. In the form shown, the compressor plate c is stamped out integral with a curved lug d notched at d<1> and projecting through a slot in the pen barrel a, and the rotatable collar e has an opening f with a bevelled top g which engages the lug d and so pivots the plate c about the slot. The plate c is curved to fit the interior of the barrel a and the width of the plate c together with that of the compressed reservoir is equal to the internal diameter of the barrel, so ensuring full compression of the reservoir.
