Abstract

169,241. Bamford, S. B. June 18,1920. Reaping and mowing machines.-The drop slide bracket 1 of a reaping or mowing machine is provided with a spring catch bolt 2 having a V- shaped fore end 4, 5 adapted to engage with a correspondingly shaped lateral projection 6 on a pointed drop slide 14. The spring bolt exerts a downward and side pressure against the drop slide, thus holding it firmly against the bracket 1 and a projecting face 16 on the bolt casing but permitting it to be freed by an upward pull. The wearing surface of the slide is preferably hardened. The drop slide is secured by a pivot bolt 18 provided with a spring washer 21. In a modification, the spring bolt is mounted on the slide and the projection it engages on the bracket.
