Driving-arrangements for screw propellers, - Relates to means for eliminating the chattering of the teeth of toothed reducing and like gearing used with shafts. The times of free torsional vibration of the shafts with the masses secured thereto about the gearing are equalized at least in part. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 3, a screw propeller P is driven through double-helical reducing-gearing e from high and intermediate pressure turbines a, b on a shaft l<1>, and from low pressure turbine c on a shaft k<2>. The time of the shaft k<2> is adjusted to that of the propeller P and its shaft d by prolonging the shaft k<2> and interpolating a sleeve j<1> between it and a driving- pinion j. The time of the shaft l<1> is adjusted by prolonging it and also by adding a fly-wheel m. Torsionally flexible couplings and lengths of shafting may also be used.
