Coking processes; producers.-Fuel is charged into a number of small retorts b heated by the sensible heat of the gas from a producer e into which the coked charge from the retorts b is discharged by a shoot f. The fuel is heated to a low temperature not exceeding 600‹ to 650‹ C., the distillation gases leaving by a pipe h for recovery of light oils, and the producer gas by a pipe g for an ammonia-recovery plant.
