Phase, changing; regulating transformers.-A wireless receiving system comprises aerials 1, 2 which act on a common receiving-circuit through independent phase-changing appliances. The phase-changing device consists of a two-branched circuit; each branch includes a resistance and a variable inductive coupling with the receiving-circuit 26, 27, but one branch includes a condenser which gives it a resultant capacitative effect; the current therefore leads the potential in one branch and lags in the other; and the phase of the resultant effect in the receiving-circuit can be adjusted by means of the couplings 22, 15 and 17, 23, which may be mechanically linked, as shown in Fig. 2, so that one is a maximum when the other is a minimum. The aerial and phasechanging circuits are aperiodic, but the circuit 26, 27 is tuned to resonance. Specification 5783/15, [Class 40 (v), Wireless signalling &c.], is referred to.
