Abstract

160,133. White, A. E., (McKiernan-Terry Drill Co.). Dec, 12, 1919. Ratchet gearing.-Comprises ratchet mechanism for operating a screw jack in which a ratchet wheel 36 fixed on a shaft 25 is enclosed in a casing 39 having a reversible pawl 44, a lever socket 46, and a handle 47, so that the ratchet wheel and casing may be rapidly rotated by the handle, or the casing may be oscillated by the lever for dealing with heavy loads. The casing is cast in one piece as shown in Fig. 2; after the pawl and ratchet wheel have been inserted the top part 41 of the casing is bent down and held by lugs 43 which are turned over it.
