Abstract

Bituminous roofing sheets or shingles are coated on one side with a non-drying tacky waterproof cement during manufacture. A suitable non-drying cement consists of 90 per cent castor oil and 14 per cent gilsonite; other oil such as lubricating or paint oil may be used, and also other asphaltum or coal tar, resin, stearine pitch, petroleum asphalts, &c. in appropriate proportions.
