Paper-carriages.-The paper-carriage is hinged at the rear on a truck formed with upper and lower raceways co-operating with fixed raceways, the raceways containing bearing balls or rollers disposed in groups of two or more. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2, the carriage comprises inner and outer members 6, 4 independently hinged on a shaft 3 carried by brackets 2 on a truck 1 mounted between raceway rails 11, 12, the upper rail 11 being adjustable by means of a screw 14. Two groups of bearings are provided in each raceway, as shown in Fig. 5, each group comprising two balls 15 or two rollers, with an intermediate spacing-ball 16 of smaller diameter. The travelling cage 19 for maintaining the balls in position in the raceways is provided with a pinion 21 engaging between an upper rack on the truck and a lower rack on the lower raceway rail 12. Margin stops; carriage brakes.-The rear margin stop comprises a plate 26, Fig. 14, attached to the carriage truck and formed with an extension 37 on which an L-shaped stop member 38, 40 is adjustably secured by means of elongated screw holes and interchangeable spacing-pieces 39 formed with holes to fit on dowels on the inner face of the end 40 of the stop-member. A brake leather 32 is provided on the plate 26 for co-operation with the tabulator friction bar. Additional braking effect is obtained in conjunction with the truck bearings, the pressure against the leather tending to tilt the truck and crowd the bearing elements against their raceways.
