Abstract

The cam (4) is shrunk onto the control shaft (2) with a sleeve (11) in between. The seating surface (10) of the cam (4) and likewise the outer surface of the sleeve (11) are slightly tapered and the inner surface of the sleeve (11) as well as the surface of the control shaft in contact with the sleeve (11) are cylindrical. To put on the cam (4), first of all the tapered surfaces are acted upon by pressure oil so that the cam (4) is elastically expanded and can be displaced axially relative to the sleeve (11), whereupon this pressurising is removed and the cam (4) is shrunk onto the sleeve. The cylindrical surfaces between control shaft and sleeve (11) are then acted upon by pressure oil so that the cam (4) and the sleeve (11) elastically expand together and the cam can be set in its angular position relative to the control shaft, whereupon this pressurising is removed. Owing to the fact that the second pressurising takes place at the cylindrical surfaces, the pressurising of the tapered surfaces which is otherwise usual for setting the angular position and involves difficulties is avoided. <IMAGE>
