Abstract

The dental handpiece is formed with a head housing (1) for accommodation of a rotating tool. A neck part (3) is connected to the head housing. At least two coolant lines (6, 7) at the ends of which coolant emerges for cooling of the tool and/or the preparation site in the patient's mouth lead to the head housing (1). In order to achieve uniformly high quality of the coolant at the emergence site the coolant lines (6, 7) terminate in a flat mixing unit (8) located on the head housing (1) and/or on the neck part (3). The mixing unit (8) is provided with an outlet channel (13) into which the coolant lines (6, 7) open. This channel (13) is arranged such that an extended longitudinal axis (14) intersects the tool axis (15), the point of intersection lying in the region of the tip of the tool. <IMAGE>
