Abstract

155,073. Cockburn, D., and MacNicoll, D. Oct. 13, 1919. Centrifugal governors.-A centrifugal governor comprises one or more valves 1, 1', which are unseated under the action of centrifugal force, and so cause fall of pressure in a forced lubrication or other fluid-pressure system. The fall in pressure is utilized to control the steam or fuel supply to the engine in the manner described in Specifications 138,774, 146,754, and 154,747, [all in Class 122 (iv), Steam-engines, Regulating &c.]. In the arrangement shown there are two valves, one of which 1 is for governing during normal working, while the other 1<1> is unseated only at excessive speeds, and is then retained by a latch 8. The valves 1, 1<1> are acted on by springs 2,2' which can be adjusted by screws caps 14. The rotor 3, which carries the valves, is mounted on a pie 4, which communicates bv means of a lantern 7 with a pipe 5 connected to the fluid-pressure system.
