Abstract

The subtractive colour-diffracting filter has a phase structure which contains three different optical amplitudes. In this case, the first and the second optical amplitudes, which upon illumination with white light supply light of zero diffraction order with the colours of cyan and yellow, are selected such that their superimposition produces a third optical amplitude which diffracts green light into the zero order. It is possible thereby to combine a first phase grating fixed by variable optical amplitudes and serving for representing cyan, yellow and green, with a second phase grating which corresponds to magenta of fixed optical amplitude, in order to obtain a complete colour spectrum. <IMAGE>
