Abstract
1536967 Battery terminals SAFT-SOC DES ACCUMULATEURS FIXES ET DE TRACTION and COMPAGNTE EUROPEENNE D'ACCUMULATEURS 19 Oct 1976 [22 Oct 1975] 43402/76 Heading H1B In a lead-acid storage cell, a terminal post 4 of a group of plates 3 is secured to a cover 1 by a headed fastener 9 which is arranged to draw the cover 1 and terminal post 4 towards each other and simultaneously to compress a flexible sealing gasket 7 between the cover 1 and a shoulder 5 adjacent the terminal post 4. The fastener may be an expandible rivet which when expanded may be arranged to deform the outer surface of the terminal post 4, or it may be a threaded fastener. A lock washer 8, or a ring or sleeve (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) may additionally be provided to space the terminal post 4 from the cover 1. The cover may be of rigid plastics material, e.g. polystyrene.
