Abstract
153,538. Lindsay, R. May 15, 1920. Variable-speed epicyclic gearing is rendered automatic by a fly-wheel 10 loosely mounted on the driving or driven shaft and secured to a sun or like gear 9. In the arrangement shown, pairs of planet pinions 21, 22 are supported on a spider 20 turning loosely upon the driving-shaft 2, to which is secured a gear 1 meshing with the pinions 21. The load shaft 3' carries a gear 3 meshing with the pinions 22. The gear 9 meshes with the pinions 21. In a modification, intermeshing spur planet gears are used. Specification 137,205 is referred to.
