Abstract
1535062 Treating waste water sludge EAUET ASSAINISSEMENT-SOCEA 1 Oct 1976 [6 Oct 1975] 40855/76 Heading BID [Also in Division F4] In an installation for treating waste water sludge by passing it through a decanter 10 Fig. 4, liquid taken from the turbid region of the decanter is heated to a temperature of about 200C in a heat exchanger 8 and is thereafter admixed with preheated sludge from a reservoir 4 or 5 before being passed back into said decanter. The upper part of the decanter contains a plurality of inclined parallel plates (10a Fig. 1). Concentrated sludge leaving the bottom of the decanter is then passed through a cylindrical filter 13, Fig. 2 comprising a vessel 16 containing a finely perforated tube 17 serving as a support for a fine wire gauze 18. A motor driven screw 20 disposed within the tube 17 moves the sludge from the inlet end 13a to the outlet end 13b of the filter; filtrate is discharged from the vessel 16 through outlet 21.
