Abstract

1534541 Lens systems SOCIAL SERVICE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 23 April 1976 [30 April 1975] 18074/75 Heading G2J A substantially symmetrical lens system, particularly for use in an endoscope, comprises two bi-convex rod lenses 10, 11 separated by two rod lenses 14, 15, the adjacent ends of the lenses 14, 15 being concave and their other ends being convex; the system satisfies the following condition:- |C 4 | # |C 2 -C 3 |where C 2 is the curvature of the surface of lens 10 which is adjacent the lens 14, C 3 is the curvature of the convex surface of lens 14, and C 4 is the curvature of the concave surface of lens 14. Intermediate meniscus lenses 12, 13 of higher refractive index material may be attached to the lenses 10, 11 or 14, 15. In an endoscope a series of such lens systems is used, the spaces between lenses being filled with air or water.
