Abstract

153,392. Shinner, W. J. Aug. 13, 1919. Fluids, regulating flow of; lift valves; seats. - A device for obtaining a predetermined rate of liquid flow comprises an interchangable screwed plug a having a central passage g of a predetermined calibrated size and of substantial length. The above-described device may be applied in a pipe section having a sealed screw cap for insertion and removal. Alternatively, the plug a may form the seating of a screw-down valve o, as shown. The top f of the plug is rounded to facilitate the fall of solid particles carried by the liquid, and a recess h is formed to retain the sediment. The upper end l of the plug is formed square or hexagonal to receive a tool for the insertion, removal, and interchange of the plugs.
