1533246 Food-comminuting appliance SALTER HOUSEWARES Ltd 31 Oct 1975 [26 Feb 1975] 45364/75 Divided out of 1531753 Heading A4C A device for use in comminuting solid food bodies by rasping, grating or cutting comprises, in combination, a bowl 10, a frame which forms a cover 14 adapted to engage and fit over the open mouth or aperture of the bowl when in use, and, carried by the frame, a plurality of comminuting units 22, 24, 26 of differing comminuting characteristics which can be individually selected for use, each comminuting unit being provided by one perforated or apertured side wall of each of a plurality of parallel V-section channels extending across the frame; the apertured or perforated side walls being provided with different comminuting elements 30 which give the different comminuting characteristics, and which, for each comminuting unit in use, produce fragments of comminuted food material which pass through the perforations or apertures 28 and fall into the bowl, the opposite wall of each V-section channel forming an abutment surface 32, 34, 36 which serves to guide a food body being manually reciprocated along the length of the channel in engagement with the comminuting unit of the opposite perforated or apertured wall. The bowl 10 and the cover 14 including the comminuting elements may be moulded from plastics material. The bowl may be provided with partitions positioned so that the comminuted material from each unit may be collected separately. In this case the bowl and cover are preferably of a square configuration so that the partitions are easily positioned relative to the comminuting units.
