Abstract

1532702 Electronic lock SAUNIER DUVAL 11 Feb 1976 [13 Feb 1975] 05412/76 Heading E2A An electronic lock operable by a card having magnetic indicia comprises a card reader (9, Fig. 1 not shown) an electronic memory block (7) storing a predetermined code, a locking bolt 14 coupled by gears 23, 25, 26 and shaft 27 to a first shaft 21, a second shaft 22 coaxial with the first and coupling means 2 to couple the shafts 21, 22 in response to a signal from the memory block so as to enable bolt retraction by shaft 22. The coupling means 2, Fig. 2, may comprise a low speed electric motor 36, pinion 35 of which rotates toothed sector 33, freely mounted on shaft 22, to compress torsion spring 40, by means of its ends 41, 42 engaged in sector 33 and gear 23, and sleeve 39 onto shafts 21, 22 to couple them. A button 17 on the inside may be rotated to a "notto-be-disturbed" position, eccentric 18 acting to disconnect gear 25 by means of link 46. If necessary, a guard 53 may be broken and a key-operated cylinder lock 50 having a cam 51 operated to retract bolt 14 by link 52 to gain access to the locked room.
