Abstract
1531840 Supply circuits for discharge lamps COMPAGNIE DES LAMPES 30 Dec 1976 [11 Aug 1976] 54293/76 Heading H2H A control circuit for operating a discharge lamp L at two power levels comprises a circuit CC including triacs TT, TC, control conductors FC1, FC2 independent of conductors supplying current to the lamp and a control switch IC. When the switch IC is open, the triacs TC, TT are non-conductive and the lamp is supplied with power via inductive ballasts BS, BP. On closing the switch IC, the triacs conduct thereby shorting out the ballast BS and the lamp L operates at higher power. The single control switch IC operates several lamps connected directly or via transformer couplings to a three-phase supply.
