Abstract

1531791 Moving coil transducers RANK ORGANISATION Ltd 2 March 19777 [17 March 1976] 10674/76 Heading H4J A "tweeter" loudspeaker or other electro-acoustic transducer (Fig. 2) comprises a dome diaphragm 20 having a coil 18 extending into an annular air gap 17 of a magnetic circuit comprising a magnet 12. An annular recess 23 surrounds the air gap 17. The dome diaphragm 2 has a radial flange 21 whose rim is circular and concentric with the dome. The flange 21 is located by a cylindrical element 29 engaging in the recess 23. Element 29 is preferably an axial flange on a mounting ring 27 having a further axial flange 30 at least partly surrounding the dome and influencing the frequency response. The mounting ring 27 is clamped in position by a mounting plate 31 having a locating shoulder 33. A cardboard sealing ring 25 has an outer diameter substantially the same as that of the radial flange 21 and its inner diameter is greater than the outer diameter of a corrugated part 22 of the flange 21.
