Abstract

1531585 Cleaning tubes PILGRIM ENG DEVELOPMENTS Ltd 12 May 1977 [15 March 1976] 10287/76 Heading F2N A tube 3 (heat exchanger), is cleaned by a shaft-mounted, 2, rotating blade 1 (tungsten carbide steel) of width less than the tube 3 bore and having the forwardmost portion 11 eccentric of the blade centre line to contact scale first and act as a pivot and throw the edge 7 of the blade 1 into a wider arc of rotation and against the tube 3 wall. The edges 6, 7 and end 9 of the blade 1 are chamfered. The shaft 2 is hollow, open-ended and water is fed along it for cooling and washing. The shaft 2 comprises screwconnected, 15, 16, portions for length adjustment, the final portion having a drill attachment.
