Abstract

1530342 Scavenging vessel D H DAVIES 21 June 1977 [25 March 1976] 12086/76 Heading B1D A towed or self-propelled barge for collecting floating oil has a front opening with one or more buoyant hinged flaps 7 over which oil and some water flow into a central tank, where gravity separation occurs and from which water is pumped. The flap(s) level is determined by the lever 13 within the tank, and flap(s) may rise up to stop 9 to prevent flow in the reverse direction. Side tanks (1, Fig. 5 not shown) serve as ballast and oil-storage tanks. The central tank may be divided by horizontal perforate baffles (14) and vertical baffles.
