Abstract

1529668 Printed circuit assemblies AMP Inc 3 Feb 1977 [8 March 1976] 04532/77 Heading HIR An electrical component assembly comprises a metal, e.g. brass sheet 1 (Fig. 1) formed by etching or stamping to leave holes 2 and plural contact portions 3 interconnected by narrow frangible portions 4, the contacts having therein H-shaped apertures 5 to provide pairs of inwardly directed tongues 6 which may engage male contact members. Sheets 7 of insulant material (Fig. 2) having circular central cut-outs and rectangular cutouts 9, 10 registrable with apertures 5 cut-outs 11 and frangible portions 4, and also matching asymmetrical ends; are assembled in aligned sandwich with sheet 1 and secured together by non-conductive adhesive or by striking out and bending over the peripheral frangible portions 4 to engage cut-outs 11 of sheets 7. The frangible portions 4 aligned with cut-outs 10 are, e.g. punched out to mutually isolate contact portions 3, and components are assembled on either side of the sandwich having male extensile contact members inserted through cut-outs 9 to deflect tongues 6 provided by apertures 5 (Fig. 3, not shown). The assembly may be, e.g. mounted on the casing of a small electric motor whose rotor intersects the central hole; with the stator windings brush housings and connections plugged into the connector sandwich, which also carries plugged in supply leads, switches, and resistors (Fig. 4, not shown).
