1528733 Recording apparatus CAMILLE BAUER MESSINSTRUMENTE AG 12 April 1977 [13 April 1976] 15116/77 Heading G1J A recorder for analogue data X comprises an endless belt 2 carrying marking means 16 repeatedly across a moving chart 1 to scan the chart in a continuous raster, a digital signal of the instantaneous position of the marking means across the width of the chart being converted at 20 to an analogue ramp signal 21 which is compared at 25 with an analogue signal representing the instantaneous value of the data X to be recorded, the marking means 16 being actuated when the values of the compared analogue signals are equal. The digital position signal may be provided by photoelectric means 18 sensing holes 17 in the belt 2, or an angular position transducer 22 driven by a roller 15a carrying the belt 2. The writing means 16 comprises a type head 6 on a spring arm 4 integral with or secured to the belt. A permanent magnet 9 on the arm 4 is repelled when an electromagnet 12 is energized, to strike the type head 6 on the chart, In a multi-channel recorder Fig. 2 (not shown) separate electromagnets span adjacent width zones of the chart. Separate documentation and time columns (30, 31) may also be provided on the chart, to be marked by suitable printing means. A digital display of the instantaneous value of the analogue data may be provided.
