Abstract
1528148 Refractory composition VEITSCHER MAGNESITWERKE-ACTIEN-GES 26 Nov 1975 [29 Nov 1974] 48627/75 Heading C1J A refractory dry tamping composition for lining crucible induction furnaces contains not more than 1À5 wt. per cent Si0 2 and (a) a principal basic refractory material having a content of at least 96 wt. per cent MgO and/or CaO, an Fe 2 O 3 content below 2À5 wt. per cent, a CaO content of at least 2 wt. per cent and a molecular lime-silica ratio above 2; and (b) an additive which on heating reacts with the principal material with an increase in volume, the additive being a zirconium compound that forms the oxide on heating, having a granule size below 1 mm., and being present in an amount of 5-40 wt. per cent calculated as ZrO 2 based on the total composition, preferably sufficient to bind the free CaO with formation of calcium zirconate.
