1527406 Semi-conductor gas sensors MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 8 Nov 1976 [8 Nov 1975(3) 11 Nov 1975(2) 13 Nov 1975(2) 17 Nov 1975 19 Nov 1975] 46458/76 Heading G1N [Also in Division C1] In a metal oxide reducing gas sensor the gas sensitive element is composed of, as a main constituent γ-ferric oxide and, as an additive, at least one of WO 3 , MoO 3 , SiO 2 , GeO 2 , Li 2 O, Na 2 O, K 2 O, CaO, SrO, BaO, Eu 2 O 3 , La 2 O 3 , CeO 2 , Al 2 O 3 , Ga 2 O 3 , In 2 O 3 , SnO 2 , TiO 2 , MgO, NiO, ZnO, Mn 2 O 3 and Cr 2 O 3 . The effect of the additive is to raise the γ-to α-Fe 2 O 3 phase transition temperature to improve the stability of the sensor. Details of compositions and two constructions are described.
