Abstract
1525920 Steam traps MIL Ltd 8 Oct 1975 [19 Oct 1974] 45349/74 Heading F4U A steam trap comprises a housing 10 having an inlet 12 leading to an inlet chamber 42 and to a sump 68, and a bore 50 which extends between the chamber 42 and the sump 68 and in which a valve member 54 is movable. The valve member has a portion 56 engageable with a valve seat 52 at the end of the bore 50 and is shaped so as to allow flow through the bore to an outlet 14 when raised from the seat. A bimetallic strip 40 extends between the valve member and an adjustable anchorage 36. The arrangement is such that the fluid pressure acting on opposite ends of the valve member produces a small net force tending to close the valve. The bimetallic strip is operative to open the valve upon fall of temperature of the fluid in the chamber 42.
