In Fig. 1, the watch includes an oscillator and frequency divider circuit 1 to provide timekeeping signals which step seconds and minutes counters 2, 3. The minutes components of alarm times are pre-set in respective memory channels 5, 6 and 7 by a setting circuit 4, Similar pre-setting arrangements (not shown) are provided for hours and seconds. The memorized data is coupled by a switching circuit 16 via a decoder 17 to indicate alarm times on a digital display 18. A ring counter 15 is driven by clockpulses (e.g. between 2Hz and 256Hz) from the frequency divider in circuit 1. The successively occurring logic "1" outputs of ring counter 15 open AND gates 8a to 8c successively and pass the contents of the memory channels 5, 6, 7 through OR gate 9. First the contents of channel 5 are compared in EX OR gate 10, with the contents of minutes counter 3. Upon coincidence a flip-flop 12 is set and an audible alarm 14 is activated. At the end of a predetermined period, a pulse from seconds counter 2 resets the flip-flop 12 thereby terminating the alarm. In a similar manner the alarm is activated at the times pre-set in channels 6, 7.
