Abstract

1524050 Theatrical appliances C M CHATENAY 31 Oct 1975 [18 Nov 1974] 45456/75 Heading A6M [Also in Division El] A spectator stand comprises a platform 3. pivotally mounted on a support frame at its centre of gravity, and having a plurality of rows of seats parallel to the pivotal axis wherein the support frame comprises a plurality of frame members pivotally connected for movement between a collapsed position and an erect position, height adjusting means operable to pivot the frame members and locking means to maintain the platform in its desired elevated position. The height adjusting means may comprise a cable 23 running over pulleys and tensioned by a jack 15 (Fig. 4), or a jib 40 (Fig. 6a) pivoted to a thrust rod 41 whose lower end is adjusted by a jack 42, or a telescopic jack 53 (Fig. 7). The tiers of seats may be adjusted to the appropriate angle to the inclined tiers by a crank-connecting rod system controlled by a screw threaded rod (Fig. 5a, not shown).
