Abstract

1521100 Automatic focusing HONEYWELL Inc 20 Nov 1975 [4 Dec 1974] 47729/75 Heading HID In the automatic focusing system described with reference to Fig 1 of Specification 1448424 the output F (157 in Fig. 3) of the signal processor 39 may exhibit minor minima as well as the true minimum which indicates to the equality of the images falling on the two arrays of detectors 1, 3 and the attainment of focus of the lens 43. Such minor minima can cause incorrect "assumption" of image equality by the system. The minor minima are thus removed from the output F by the addition of a clamp, e.g. diode 159, Fig. 2 which holds the output to - Vc or less, i.e. only the true minimum appear at the output.
