1520196 Theft alarms W HOLZER 27 May 1976 22047/76 Heading G4N An alarm and theft prevention apparatus comprises a transmitter I which transmits a pulsed and modulated signal (radio, light or ultrasonic) and a receiver II which is kept in tune with the transmitted pulsed and modulated signal, wherein the receiver checks the presence of the transmitted signal, demodulates the resultant electrical signal and passes the demodulated electrical signal to a threshold detector 8 which causes energization of a signal device if the amplitude of the demodulated electrical signal falls below a reference level. The transmitter is preferably accommodated on an article to be guarded and the receiver is carried by the guard or messenger. Alternatively the receiver is on the article with the transmitter on the guard. A plurality of articles may be monitored either using a single transmitter and a plurality of receivers or vice versa.
