Abstract

1520016 Electric battery lamps UNION CARBIDE CORP 3 Sept 1975 [4 Sept 1974] 36231/75 Heading F4R An electric torch, which may be waterproof and buoyant, has a lens and reflector unit 101-103 detachably mounted on a battery casing 109 closed by an end cap 110 and a pushbutton switch assembly 116 mounted on a bracket 117 and protected by a flexible boat member 136. In one embodiment, as shown, the torch casing parts 101, 109, 110 are of moulded non-conductive material and the flexible boot 136 is sealed to the casing by a gasket 138. An internal conductive strip (155) (Fig. 13, not shown), connects a spring 112 contacting one battery 135 with a lampholder 104. The circuit is completed via contact strips 131, 133 and the switch 116. In another arrangement, the torch casing is metallic and provides part of the circuit to the batteries (Figs. 1-3, not shown). The flexible boot (52) is secured by a snap-in lock ring and an accent ring. The switch is mounted between hinged shell members of a sub-housing (Figs. 4-7, not shown) which is retained also by the lock ring.
