Abstract
1519832 Coloured anodized aluminium RIKEN KEIKINZOKU KOGYO KABUSHIKI 29 July 1975 [31 July 1974] 31603/75 Heading C7B A coloured oxide film is produced on Al (alloy) by anodically forming an oxide film thereon, and applying positive and negative voltage pulses to the Al in an electrolyte comprising H 2 SO 4 solution and a salt of a colour metal e.g. Au, Se, Sn, Ni, Co or Ag. Preferably the polarity of the voltage pulse is periodically reversed with a periodicity of less than 2À5 seconds e.g. more than 65 times per second. Anodizing may be effected in the same electrolyte by applying voltage pulses, the quantity of positive electricity being greater than that of negative, and for colouring, the quantity of positive electricity being less than that of negative. The Al concentration in the electrolyte may be controlled, or Fe, Cu or Mg may be added, to control the resulting colour.
